Lt. Deputy Marshal Harvey Holt is a 1995 graduate of Linton-StocktonHigh School and attended Vincennes University where he majored in Law Enforcement.  Lieutenant Holt has also attended the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and the Community College of the Air Force where he became a Nationally Certified Emergency Medical Technician-Basic. 


Prior to assuming a position with the Bloomfield Police Department in July of 2007, Lieutenant Holt served 9 ½ years active duty with the United States Air Force and one year in the Indiana Air National Guard as a Security Forces Member. He graduated top of his class at the Department of Defense’s Law Enforcement and Ground Combat Skills Academies.  In 2003 he was selected as a Military Working Dog Handler.  Upon graduating at the top of his class, he was assigned to a 12 person K-9 unit directly supporting the President of the United States and other world leaders.  Lieutenant Holt served one tour in Iraq as an Explosive Detector Dog Handler and one in Saudi Arabia as an Anti-terrorism/Force Protection agent. His photo is currently featured in the Air Force Museum for his role in Operation Iraqi Freedom.


Lieutenant Harvey Holt has been employed with the Bloomfield Police Department since July 2007.  He graduated in 1998 from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy second in his class and currently serves as the Department’s Lieutenant and Police Service Dog K-9 Handler.  He has attended advanced Methamphetamine Training and the Advanced Reed Interrogation School.  In addition to normal duties, Lieutenant Holt serves as the National Treasurer and Co-Chairman of the Awards Board for The American Police Canine Association.  He is a nationally certified K-9 trainer in Explosives Detection, Narcotics Detection and Police Service Dog Patrol/Tracking and trains dogs from around the world.
